I started fishing in 2022. I taught myself most of what I know so far by reading all the information on the internet. However the quality of the content and usefulness was hit or miss. Most content out there isn’t from Bay area anglers and the content there is usually isn’t educational (they are mostly videos you can leverage once you learn the basics) or suitable to Bay area dynamics. I also didn’t have a clear idea on what equipment to start with, how to progress to the next level and when to not even bother fishing.

Who is this blog for

This website is an attempt to help beginner fishermen (anglers) start with angling. I think there are two things that are fun about angling.

1. One is the equipment and the technique. If you like buying new equipment, this is a hobby that will keep you busy (and your wallet light). I am going to try to teach while avoiding new equipment and make the best of what you already have, so if you want to buy a lot of gear, you may not find much info here.
2. If you like the technique and practicing something till you improve, you will like this site. It is structured like a course.
3. If you are in this to get some alone time, enjoy the outdoors and learn about the food chain in the wild, you will love angling and this course.

Contents

This website is organized in two parts. The first is a set of lessons. You start with basics and gradually work your way up to more advanced techniques and gear. The second part is just regular blog posts or videos on my fishing adventures.
